Declaration

by Sol Aisling

Every brushstroke, every image, every word I create is, at its core, an offering. Not to be worshiped, but to point toward the One who gives all things. I believe that art—whether it is a painting, a photograph, or a poem—is a reflection of God’s own creativity, a glimpse of the divine woven into the fabric of human expression.

From the moment God spoke light into existence, creation itself became the first masterpiece. The sunrise across a winter field, the ripples on a quiet pond, the intricate lines of an aging face—these are all testaments to the artistry of the Creator. And as beings made in His image, we too are given the gift of creating.

But art, like any gift, carries responsibility. It can illuminate or mislead. It can glorify the self or magnify the One who made us. My desire is that everything I create—every image, every poem, every book—would be done with Soli Deo Gloria in mind: For the glory of God alone.

There have been times in history when art became an idol, a thing to be worshiped rather than a means of worship. But I do not believe that creativity itself is the problem—it is the posture of the heart. If art leads us away from God, it becomes empty. If it leads us toward Him, it becomes a prayer in color, a hymn without sound, a parable in form.

I create because I have been given the gift to do so. Not for accolades, not for recognition, but because within each piece is a whisper of something greater. If there is beauty here, it is from Him. If there are flaws, they are mine alone. To Him be the glory.
